It seems Shelly Hennig just can’t leave Salem behind. After just a few weeks off our screens as Stephanie Johnson on Days of our Lives, Shelly Hennig is set to return to Salem.
New Salem, that is.
And no we don’t mean Melaswen (new Salem backwards) the best forgotten storyline where Andre DiMera killed half of Salem’s residents and held them on an island modeled to look exactly like Salem.
Shelly Hennig has been cast in the television version of Secret Circle, a series of Young Adult fantasy novels written by LJ Smith and set in New Salem. Shelly will play eighteen year-old, Diana, the leader of a high school coven of witches, and best friend to Cassie, the series lead character.
Shelly Hennig’s portrayal as Stephanie Johnson garnered her a 2010 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress. Add to that her casting in a television version of a young adult series of novels, sure to have an instant viewer following, and you have further proof that daytime soap operas are a wonderful training ground for tomorrows stars.
Too bad those daytime soap operas are being cancelled faster than the coven of witces on Secret Circle can cast a spell or stir up a magic potion.
Secret Circle begins filming in Vancouver soon, and has been picked up as a pilot by CW. Just proves once again that daytime soap operas are a wonderful training ground.
