Daytime Emmys 2011: 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Nominees Announced (Winners Updated!)

1 985
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, today announced the nominees for the 38th annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, known more simply as the Daytime Emmy’s.  Like 2010, this year’s awards ceremony will be broadcast on CBS live from the Las Vegas Hilton on June 19, 2011, with Wayne Brady hosting.
The nominations for Daytime Drama Series awards reflect an ever decreasing daytime soap opera line-up due to a rash of cancellations over the past years.
As The World Turns, which left our screen in September of 2010, still receives a few nods, as this year’s awards are for work on productions that screened between 2am and 6pm during the 2010 calendar year.
This year’s cancelled soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live feature heavily in this year’s nominations, with All My Children even earning a nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series, something that can’t be said for NBC’s only daytime drama, Days of our Lives.
In fact Days of our Lives only avoids the bottom of the list of Emmy nominations by number, because As the World Turns still qualifies for this year’s nominations.  When compared to the number of nomination for other currently airing soap operas Days of our Lives trails, by a long way (see list below), its daytime Emmy nods consistent with Nielsen ratings performance.

Young and the Restless (CBS ) – 20 nominations
